i’m done with movable type
I’ve used Movable Type for my blogs for probably the last five years. But when I launched returncontrol.com, I decided to make the switch to WordPress. I know many people have already said this, but the 4.0 release of MT really hurt the product. The interface got too convoluted, the template upgrades weren’t backwards compatible with my previous templates, and the entire system seemed to have gotten slower overall. While I really like the folks at Six Apart, the 4.0 release unfortunately could be a case study in how one bad upgrade can alienate a user base, especially when there are other, faster, more intuitive open source options out there like WordPress.
So far, WordPress seems pretty slick. I’m enjoying learning how to use it.
